Bad Bunny is set to headline the 2026 Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, marking one of the biggest stages yet for the Puerto Rican superstar.

The NFL tapped him for the February 8 performance at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California—the home of the San Francisco 49ers—making him the first artist announced to headline a Super Bowl halftime show expected to be performed entirely in Spanish.

But one question keeps resurfacing: will Bad Bunny bring out Daddy Yankee to perform “Gasolina,” the reggaeton anthem that shifted the genre into global mainstream territory?

According to Daddy Yankee, fans shouldn’t count on it.

In a recent interview with ABC News, Daddy Yankee—born Ramón Ayala—was asked directly whether he’d join Bad Bunny onstage for the 2004 hit. His answer was firm. “No, not right now. Not right now,” he said. “Cause I’m on a different mission right now… even though I respect what he’s doing right now. Don’t get me wrong. Benito is an ally.”

Daddy Yankee has collaborated with Bad Bunny before, and both artists share Puerto Rican roots. Still, Daddy Yankee has been vocal about his retirement from music, telling fans in December 2023 that he was stepping away from the industry to dedicate his life to Jesus.

That mission is shaping every decision he makes—including whether he touches a Super Bowl stage.

Daddy Yankee explained that he and Bad Bunny recently spoke and that he wished him nothing but success. “I told him, ‘I wish you the best. Go out there and do your best, and we’re proud of you,’” he shared. “But I’m in a different mission right now. It’s different. So I gotta represent what I’m doing right now 100 percent.”

He did, however, leave the door slightly open—just not for “Gasolina.” When asked if he’d consider performing his inspirational track “Sonríele,” he said that would be “different,” adding, “I would love to do it… to send a message.”

Daddy Yankee also emphasized the significance of Bad Bunny’s halftime appearance for the culture. “It’s very important for the Spanish-speaking community, for the Latinos. Somebody’s gonna sing in Spanish, and that’s beautiful.”

Then he added one more thought, tying it back to his spiritual focus: “I think the biggest touchdown of his career will be when he accepts Jesus in his life.”

Bad Bunny remains the sole announced performer for the 2026 halftime show.
