Chaka Khan is speaking up after a wave of false, AI-generated stories about her began circulating online, prompting concern from fans who weren’t sure what to believe.
According to People, the legendary singer and her team issued a public statement warning that multiple viral posts purporting to feature news about her are fabricated. According to the statement, several stories circulating on Facebook and other platforms were generated by artificial intelligence and do not reflect reality.
“Chaka & her team want to remind everyone to be cautious about fake, AI-generated ‘news’ circulating on Facebook and elsewhere,” the message read. “These stories are not real.”
The advisory made it clear that fans should trust only information from verified sources. “If it isn’t coming directly from Chaka’s official social channels or ChakaKhan.com, it shouldn’t be trusted,” the statement continued.
The team also urged followers not to engage with the misleading posts, warning that likes, comments, and shares only help scammers push them further across social media feeds.
In addition to flagging fake stories, Khan’s team encouraged fans to stay informed through official updates, directing them to her website and newsletter for legitimate announcements, including future plans for 2026. The message also included a link to an educational video on identifying AI-generated misinformation.
The warning follows several false claims about Khan gaining traction online this month. Among them were false reports announcing nonexistent farewell tours and documentaries. Other posts reportedly used AI-generated images portraying the 11-time Grammy winner as pregnant or recovering from surgery—scenarios that have no basis in fact.
While the fake stories have caused confusion, there is real news on the horizon for the “Ain’t Nobody” icon. Khan is set to be honored later this month at We Are Moving the Needle’s annual Resonator Awards, taking place on January 27 at Chaplin Studios in Los Angeles. She will receive the Luminary Award, which recognizes creators whose influence extends far beyond music and into broader cultural impact.
