According to Billboard, the global pop icon joined the platform this week with a short, self-aware introduction that leans into humor, family pressure, and the surreal experience of becoming “cool” to a new generation.
The 57-year-old singer made her TikTok debut on Monday, January 5, posting a 17-second video that quickly went viral. Wearing a black hoodie from a French fashion house that shares her first name, Dion introduced herself with calm confidence before poking fun at how the moment came together.
Referencing her teenage twin sons, she explained that they’d been pushing her to finally get on the app. “‘We have to get you on TikTok!’” she said, mimicking their insistence.
Her reaction? Confusion—briefly. “On TikTok?” Dion asked in the clip, as a sampled voice exclaimed, “WHAT?!” The moment shifted from puzzled to playful as digital sunglasses appeared on her face and a bassline kicked in. “I’ve heard of that before. Suddenly, I’m becoming cool,” she said. “Céline Dion is cool. That’s amazing. TikTok, here I come! Ciao.”
The caption added more context to the moment, framing her arrival as a gentle leap into unfamiliar territory. “They told me, ‘Celine, it’s time…’ I asked, ‘Time for what?’ Turns out…something completely new,” she wrote.
