Bishop Marvin Sapp has a new lady in his life.

According to Essence, the gospel mainstay revealed his engagement to Dr. La’Boris Cole, flipping what looked like a simple birthday gathering into a carefully planned proposal in front of family.

Sapp and Cole walked into the event thinking it was a celebration, only for it to turn into a milestone moment. With both families present, he got down on one knee and locked it in.

The two had been close for more than a decade before shifting into a relationship, keeping things private until they were sure it was real.

In the past, Sapp had been open about life after losing his wife, MaLinda Prince Sapp, in 2010. Since then, his focus has been on raising their three children and moving with intention.

Back in 2022, he made it clear he wasn’t forcing anything, saying he wanted to see his kids “grown and healed” before fully opening himself up again. At the time, he admitted, “I’ve dated… Haven’t found her yet. But absolutely looking.”

Cole brings more than just a title as Sapp’s fiancée. She’s a therapist, runs a Texas-based behavioral health practice, and leads a worship arts conference centered on healing and purpose.

Sapp’s résumé in gospel is already cemented. From his early start in church to joining Commissioned and launching a solo career, he’s built one of the most recognizable catalogs in the genre.

“Never Would Have Made It” wasn’t just a gospel hit—it crossed over, charted on multiple Billboard lists, and became a cultural staple.

But his name hasn’t stayed confined to music. In early 2025, Sapp faced heavy backlash after a resurfaced video from a 2024 church convention showed him telling ushers to “close the doors” during a fundraising moment.

The clip spread fast, with critics accusing him of pressuring attendees. Sapp responded by saying the directive was about maintaining a focused and secure environment.
