Ariana Grande is setting the record straight after her recent red carpet comments sparked fresh speculation about when fans might hear new music from her.

According to Rolling Stone, the pop star and Wicked actor addressed the chatter on Friday, explaining that she’s not currently working on a new album—and definitely didn’t mean to suggest one was coming soon.

The confusion started after comments she made during an interview were interpreted as hinting at a possible timeline, which quickly lit up fan conversations online.

Grande later took to Instagram to clear things up, pushing back on how her remarks were framed. “Welp, I never said ‘but soon enough’ or mentioned any months! lol my goooooodness,” she wrote in a comment.

She added that all she really said was “no,” joking that people seemed to think there was “a clone of me out there somewhere.” She capped it off by blaming a possible “Zoom glitch or something” for the misunderstanding.

The mention of a month in coverage of her original remarks led some fans to theorize that new music could drop during her upcoming Eternal Sunshine tour, which kicks off this summer. Grande quickly shut that down as well, responding in another comment, “Ma’am i would need an extra brain and four more arms.”

At the moment, Grande’s focus is firmly on the tour itself. Back in November, she described the Eternal Sunshine run as something close to a farewell—at least for now.

Speaking with Amy Poehler on a podcast, Grande said she was excited about the shows but hinted they might be rare going forward. “I do know that I’m very excited to do this small tour,” she said, adding that it may not happen again “for a long, long, long, long, long time.”

That sentiment hasn’t changed. Previously, Grande said that she’s been deep in preparation mode, revealing she’s been working on the set list “for months now” and will begin rehearsals “very soon.”

The Eternal Sunshine tour is scheduled to begin June 6 with three consecutive shows in Oakland.
