Watch Wale's New Video for "Sue Me" Starring Lucas Hedges

Wale has dropped a provocative video for "Sue Me" starring Lucas Hedges.

Wale has shared the video for "Sue Me" starring Honey Boy and Manchester by the Sea actor Lucas Hedges. Directed by Kerby Jean-Raymond, the seven-minute visual for the Wow... That's Crazy track is as politically-charged as the song itself.

"What if you could walk through a day in the life of an average African American young man? What would you see? What would you hear? What would you face? We wanted to redefine the whole narrative and allow everybody to step into these shoes," Wale said of the new video, which depicts a world in which racial prejudice is reversed. "I’ve never been more proud of a video than what we did here. Kerby really brought this vision to life, and Reebok helped make it a reality. I hope it makes you think a little. While you’re thinking, stay safe and stay home."

One particular scene sees Hedges' character kicked out of a coffee shop, which is a reference to the incident in which two black men were arrested at a Starbucks. The video culminates in Hedges meeting his father behind bars, where they have a conversation about minor drug offenses being appealed. "People like us?" his dad responds. "There is no hope for people who look like us." Moving his chess piece, Hedges says, "White goes first." After that, the dire conditions of prisons amid the COVID-19 pandemic are shown in a clip recorded by a prisoner.
