Trey Songz Recruits Yo Gotti and 2 Chainz for "How Dat Sound"

For the most part, 2018 has been a pretty quiet year for Trey Songz, but all that changes today with the release of "How Dat Sound."

For the most part, this has been a pretty quiet year for Trey Songz. The R&B singer has offered up a smattering of features here and there, but ever since he dropped Tremaine the Album last year, he's mostly kept to himself, presumably working on some new material. Thursday night, he shared his first single of the year with the 2 Chainz and Yo Gotti-featuring "How Dat Sound."

Leaning heavier on rap than Tremaine did, "How Dat Sound" is a trap-inflected song that indicates something much bigger is on the horizon. Over skittering hi-hats and booming bass, Trey provides his smooth vocals to the aggressive beat while 2 Chainz offers up some quotable lines as always.

Trey has already made it clear that we should expect a lot more music from him in the near future, revealing on Twitter, "Aye this the warm up! Watch how much shit I'm bout to drop." If it's anything like "How Dat Sound," fans should expect a big change of pace from 2017's Tremaine.

While it's not entirely clear if "How Dat Sound" is from an upcoming project or not, it is safe to assume that Trey will likely be ending 2018 a lot louder than it started.
