Snoop Dogg had an absolute blast when he carried the Olympic torch through a Parisian suburb on Friday, July 26.

The legendary West Coast rapper, who has been hired as an Olympics correspondent for NBC for the Paris Games, was chosen to take the torch through its final stages to mark the start of the festivities.

"I look at this as a prestigious honor and something that I truly respect. I would have never dreamed of nothing like this," Snoop said ahead of carrying the torch. He added he was somewhat surprised that France had "allowed" him to do it.

In one clip of the 52-year-old running with the flame, Snoop seemed overjoyed with the honor as thousands cheered him on. At one point, some fans in the audience played his iconic 1993 track "Who Am I (What's My Name?)" from a portable speaker. With a huge smile on his face, Snoop briefly slowed down to dance to the Doggystyle single, which helped launch his career over 30 years ago.

In an NBC conference call, Snoop said that hip-hop has "always been a part of the Olympics," but it's only just being recognized because of how global the genre has become, per The Guardian. "What’s cooler than hip-hop in the Olympics? I mean, it is what it is. It’s peanut butter and jelly, you know what I’m talking about? Over here it’s coffee and biscuits. That’s what that is. It’s a great mix."

Last month, Snoop participated in a 200-meter race during the 2024 Summer Olympic trials. As part of his gig in Paris, he revealed that he plans to meet with 28-time Olympic champion Michael Phelps and the rest of the U.S. swimming team while visiting some of the city's major destinations.
