Controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has been cautioned not to come to Puerto Rico for a performance due to safety concerns.

Fresh off the release of his debut Spanish-language album, Leyenda Viva, 6ix9ine was scheduled for a performance in Puerto Rico on Thursday, July 20. In a statement shared with El Vocero de Puerto Rico, however, authorities have told the rapper that he shouldn't come because there have been several threats made against his life.

“The commissioner of the Police Department, Antonio López Figueroa, told the Univisión network that it should refrain from the participation of rapper Daniel Hernández, artistically known as 6ix9ine, scheduled for this Thursday, at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico as part of the Premios Juventud,” reads the Spanish-language statement.

Local authorities are looking into a security plan because police cannot prevent him from traveling to the territory.

The statement comes not long after 6ix9ine threw some serious shade at Anuel AA, who he previously collaborated with.

6ix9ine has made a career out of his provocative nature, but his popularity has massively diminished since the release of TattleTales in 2020. When he surprise-dropped the reggaeton record Leyenda Viva last month, the album peaked at No. 19 on the US Top Latin Albums chart. However, it failed to chart on the US Billboard 200. His previous albums Dummy Boy and TattleTales peaked at No. 2 and No. 4 on the Billboard 200, respectively.

Earlier this year, Lil Durk invited 6ix9ine to a $50 million boxing match in Dubai. “I dont want you hurt or dead you a kid from the burbs,” Durk wrote in an Instagram message to 6ix9ine. “I got 50 million my own money without help to fight you on tv in dubi [sic]we can double the money 3 rounds…..go talk to your rich friends lets set it up setember – stop the violence lol.” Lil Durk's most recent album, Almost Healed, dropped in May and debuted at the No. 3 spot on the Billboard 200.
