OJ da Juiceman is facing as many as ten charges after he allegedly pointed a firearm at an officer during a road rage incident in January.
The 44-year-old Atlanta rapper, real name Otis Whitfield Williams Jr., has been accused of pointing a gun at an officer on Interstate 20 on Jan. 28. Per TMZ, the Georgia Department of Public Safety said that Juiceman was identified as the driver of a gray Nissan Altima that approached the officer’s vehicle near Moreland Avenue at a high speed. The driver allegedly tailgated the officer, aggressively honked at them, and pointed a handgun at the officer’s vehicle as he drove past.
Following the incident, Juiceman reportedly continued to drive aggressively and weaved through traffic. The trooper eventually lost sight of his vehicle, and the incident was reported. The rental car was traced back to Juiceman, and warrants were secured on several charges.
Juiceman was arrested earlier this month on ten charges, including felony aggravated assault upon a public safety officer, misdismeanor pointing or aiming a gun or pistol at another, and felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The rest of the charges are misdemeanor traffic offenses.
His attorney is seeking to have the rapper released on bond. In a petition for bond, his attorney wrote he’s “a well-known Atlanta musician and recording artist” who doesn’t pose a flight risk.
An affidavit from a woman claims that OJ wasn’t behind the wheel of the car that was traced back to him has been submitted in support of the petition. She claimed that the rapper rented the car on her behalf, and that another man was using the rental car at the time of the incident.
In court documents reviewed by Complex, Jacqueshia Davis said that Juiceman rented the vehicle for her, and she permitted a man named Michael Thomas to use the vehicle.
“To my knowledge, [OJ da Juiceman] did not have possession of the vehicle at the time of the alleged incident,” she wrote. “I allowed Michael Thomas to use the vehicle, and I had no knowledge of any alleged illegal activity involving the vehicle until after [Juiceman] was arrested.”
