In an interview with an evangelical Christian podcaster, Nicki Minaj revealed that she wishes she could change some of the lyrics in her older material.
Appearing on the Bryce Crawford Podcast, hosted by 22-year-old street preacher Bryce Crawford, Minaj spoke about her relationship with her Christian faith and how it’s shaped how she views some of her discography. "Well, it sure isn't driving people to God," she said when asked by Crawford about the state of the music industry. "It definitely isn't making people want God more, because it focuses on the worship of material things. And we all play a part in it. I've played a part in it, of course."
She added that, early in her career, she didn’t realize the type of influence she could have. "I didn't realize that there are young people listening to it and how it could probably make them make certain decisions that wasn't, you know, really thought out," she continued. "Now if I could do it all over again, I would have changed a lot of things that I said… I just don't like the idea of thinking that these people will now grow up wanting to change themselves as opposed to loving themselves… That's what I think is very demonic about the industry as a whole—it makes people feel that they're never enough."
As for her experiences in the music industry, she said she started her career with an idealized idea of how it might go. "I started realizing people are really vindictive in this industry," she said. "If you don't get money with one person or a specific person, they don't want you to get money at all."
Elsewhere in the interview, she also touched upon the idea that there’s a secret society in the music industry. "I don't know if they're Illuminati. I don't know what they are," she said. "I always look at it like it was a personal issue that one person didn't really like me, and they happen to be in a powerful position."
Over the past few years, Nicki Minaj has increasingly embraced conservative politics and even appeared onstage at an event with Donald Trump. Just recently, she celebrated Trump’s 80th birthday with a series of AI-generated images, including one featuring Elon Musk and Sydney Sweeney.
