Metro Boomin Shares Why We Won’t See Him Do a ‘Verzuz’ for a Very Long Time

Metro Boomin is one of the most renowned hip-hop producers alive, but he figures that he won’t be doing a 'Verzuz' event any time soon.

Metro Boomin is one of the most prolific hip-hop producers working today, but he reckons he won’t be doing a Verzuz event anytime soon.

On Wednesday, a fan tweeted they “would love” to see Young Metro do a Verzuz battle with another producer. He said he doesn’t believe he’ll be ready for quite a while.

“Lol thanks but I need 20 more years in the game before I do a Verzuz,” Metro replied.

Metro has been getting credits as a producer since at least 2009, and in those dozen-plus years he’s made countless beats for countless artists in hip-hop and beyond, including, of course, Future, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Drake, Big Sean, Young Thug, and Migos, the Weeknd, James Blake, and even Coldplay. He’s produced so many quality songs, including the No. 1 hit “Bad and Boujee,” that it would make even the most experienced of beatsmiths blush.

Yet he still doesn’t think he’s up to the challenge yet. Some of the heavyweight producer match-ups on Verzuz have included founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, RZA and DJ Premier, and Scott Storch and Mannie Fresh. The second-ever Verzuz battle was between Boi-1da and Hit-Boy, who haven’t been actively producing for much longer than Metro. It’s also unclear who Metro would face off against.

Lil Durk recently teased a collaborative album with Metro, which the producer confirmed is on the way. This week the latter also teased a follow-up to his own record Not All Heroes Wear Capes, and a possible appearance on Future’s upcoming LP:
