Maino Says He Thought Shannon Sharpe Was Gay Before Sexual Assault Lawsuit

The 'Club Shay Shay' host was recently sued for $50 million by a woman accusing him of sexual assault.

Rapper and radio personality Maino was surprised when he heard about the Shannon Sharpe allegations because he thought the Club Shay Shay host was gay.

In a new interview with DJ Vlad, Maino was asked for his thoughts on the $50 million lawsuit against Sharpe, which accuses him of sexual assault. "A man can do whatever he want to do, right? But, you know, for me, personally, I wouldn't want to be laying in bed, jumping in the sack with a 19-year-old. That's just a bit too young for me. Just the conversation, what we talking about, what we into. I don't really feel like we got much in common."

Vlad clarified that Sharpe's accuser was "legal" at the time of the incident, but that doesn't stop Maino from feeling that the relationship is morally questionable. "This didn't sound like a mature 19-year-old, she sound spectrumish," he continued. "Those text messages sound a little, you know, scripted. Like, 'I'mma say this just to get it on record.'"

He also said that he was surprised by the whole situation because he didn't think Sharpe was straight. "Honestly, I thought he was gay," he said. "100 percent. His name is Shay Shay, the way he talk. The way he move around. I thought he was gay, 100 percent. ... No disrespect. I'm not big on football... He wasn't really somebody I really knew about like that."

Following the allegations against him, Sharpe announced that he would be "stepping aside" from his duties at ESPN. He has denied the allegations and said that the relationship between him and the woman was "100 percent consensual."
