Earlier this year, Lil Uzi Vert faced criticism for rapping about Satan in their music, and in a new interview with GQ they brushed off the criticism and compared all religions to cults.

"Any type of religion is some type of a cult,” Uzi told Senior Entertainment Editor Frazier Tharpe. "Being Christian is a cult. You all meet at a place to pray and worship.” During their performance at Rolling Loud California earlier this year, the rapper bragged they could "make a City Girl believe in Satan." The lyric was met with backlash, which Uzi addressed in comments shared with TMZ.

“Not actually Satan,” said Uzi. "But just, basically, I make a girl do whatever I say so. ... I actually kinda just say anything I wanna say. Even if I offend people. I don’t mean to offend people but, you know, if they don’t like it they have the option to turn it off.” They added that critics should "just chill a little bit."

Despite the criticism, Uzi earned their third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 last month with Pink Tape. The record garnered 167,000 equivalent album units, of which 154,000 units consisted of SEA units, equaling 210.4 million on-demand streams. It became the first hip-hop album to claim the top spot this year, breaking the longest drought of No. 1 hip-hop albums since 1993.

Elsewhere in the GQ interview, Uzi opened up about their fashion sense and gender-fluid style. “I low-key just wear anything,” said Uzi, who denied being the best-dressed rapper out right now. “Sometimes I troll and say shit like that, but I'm not the best-dressed rapper. I don't even care about that. It'd be the worst-dressed people with all the girls, so it doesn't even matter.”

They also touched on what their favorite song on Pink Tape is and gave a shout-out to the Nicki Minaj collaboration "Endless Fashion."

“Nicki hit me up like, ‘How you going to drop an album called Pink Tape and you know pink is my thing?’” said Uzi, who revealed the track came together just one day before the release of the album. “I was like, Oh, no. You right. I'm going to send this over right now. And I sent it to her right there.”
