Chicago rapper Lil Durk is wanted in connection to an Atlanta shooting that took place in February, TMZ reports. The Atlanta police department has issued arrest warrants for Durk, but as of right now he's not in police custody. He did, however, reveal on his Instagram that he was planning to turn himself in on Thursday.
The shooting reportedly took place on Feb. 5 at around 5:45 a.m. in Atlanta, and when police arrived at the scene they discovered bullet casings and a man who had been shot. Shortly after, the victim was rushed to hospital and made a recovery following surgery. Witnesses at the scene stated they saw the victim arguing with an unknown black man before the shooting took place. They reviewed the surveillance footage, but it's not clear whether they spotted Durk in the incident or not.
Durk is currently wanted for five felony charges, including aggravated assault, criminal intent to commit murder, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and criminal street gang association. Durk was previously arrested on a weapons charge back in 2011, and was sentenced to three months in jail. He was released on bond but later served 87 days behind bars. In 2013 he was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon after throwing a loaded firearm into his car when approached by police.
Durk also dropped off a new song titled "Turn Myself In." The track references the rapper's legal troubles. "In the single, the rapper laments his circumstance, apologizing to his loved ones and maintaining his innocence," a press release for the song states. "The song is a fitting and heart-wrenching confessional, released as the rapper enters the justice system on his own terms. The 26-year-old rapper born Durk Banks is fully cooperating with the authorities on this matter."
