J.J. Abrams has a lot on his plate, and he's about to get even busier. The director and producer's production company, Bad Robot, has announced its intentions to get into the music industry with a new indie music label, The Hollywood Reporter notes. Partnering with Capitol Music Group, Bad Robot's label Loud Robot will primarily focus on short-term collaborations with rising and already established artists.
Loud Robot will give Bad Robot the opportunity to get more original music for its film, TV, and video game projects. Headed by co-general managers McKee Floyd, Nicky Berger, and Charles Scott, Loud Robot is made up of a team with a lot of experience. Scott, in particular, currently serves as Bad Robot's music supervisor for both their films and TV shows. Berger comes from his Berger Management company, while McKee joins from Glassnote Entertainment Group.
Earlier this year, Abrams also announced that Bad Robot would be expanding into video games with Chinese media giant Tencent. Bad Robot Games is currently working with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on a number of unannounced projects.
Abrams is perhaps most well-known for his directorial work, having sat in the director's chair for Star Trek, Super 8, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens among others. However, he also has an extensive resume when it comes to television, too, as a co-creator and writer on everything from Alias to Lost, as well as serving as an executive producer on more recent shows Westworld and Castle Rock. He is currently busy filming the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode IX.
