In an appearance on The RapCaviar Podcast, Jim Jones doubled down on his assertion that Drake is the greatest rapper of all time.

When podcast host Brandon ‘Jinx’ Jenkins suggested that some people were surprised by Jones calling Drizzy the GOAT, the Dipset rapper replied, “I mean, why not? Drake is the only person that gets played on any place in this earth and they gonna know it in English.” Bootleg Kev chimed in to suggest that Drake should objectively be considered one of the Top 5 best rappers of all time, but Jones thinks he deserves to be considered a “top 2” rapper.

“He has broke every single statistic, period,” Jones continued. “Like, seriously. Jay-Z has done some shit for hip-hop that will never, ever be duplicated. He is HOV, and he meant that shit.”

When Kev asked if they could all agree that Jay is the No. 1 rapper of all time, Jones added, “I can’t agree on that. … [Jay is] at the top of the barrel when it comes to what he’s done. He’s a billionaire, he has done some shit for dope boys that people never even thought could be. He’s put himself in rooms that you couldn’t imagine.”

Ultimately he considers Jay’s achievements in business to be greater than what he’s achieved with music. “I haven’t heard too much Jay-Z music in the last six to seven years that was really hitting out here in these streets on the lit side of things,” said Jones. “In the past 12 years everything that Drake has put out has hit like 2Pac was hitting. No matter if you like it. No matter if n****s don’t like it cause he's light-skinned, no matter if n****s don’t like it cause he’s singing… No matter what n****s like, he always seems to be in these n****s’ playlists.”

Jones said that he’d put Jay and Drake in “the same category as far as them being the GOATs of this shit,” even if, as Kev pointed out, Drake has never provided much in the way of social or political commentary in his music. “And we mad at that?” Jones asked when it was pointed out. “So rappers have to give their opinion on social views to make them the No. 1 rapper?”

Jones’ comments come a month after he crowned Drake the GOAT in an interview with Complex. "I would say he’s the greatest of all time. I would just give that to him," he explained. "And I mean, there’s a lot of people from the beginning and people that invented hip-hop, I know. But the greatest of all time, it’s a big statement, and the relevancy that he keeps showing year after year, hit after hit, record after record. Any song that he has put out has seemed to go multiple platinum. That’s never happened before in history.”

Jones compared Drizzy to Bruce Wayne and said he’s got records for all sorts of vibes. “He’s my spirit animal, man,” he said. “I just got to give credit where credit is due, and not taking away from nobody else.” The rapper joined the rest of Dipset during Drake’s shows at the Apollo Theater in January, and after the performance, Jones called Drake the fifth member of the group.
