Following the news that Gunna would be released from jail, video of the moment the rapper entered his plea deal has been released, per WSB-TV.
In the video, as seen above, Gunna acknowledged that he became associated with Young Stoner Life Records in 2016, and that YSL is a record label and a gang. He additionally said that he had “personal knowledge” that members or associates of YSL have “committed crimes in furtherance of the gang.”
“Do you acknowledge the following statement: I recognize, accept, and deeply regret that my talent and music indirectly furthered YSL the gang to the detriment of my community. YSL as a gang must end, is that your statement or acknowledgement?” Gunna was asked in court.
“Yes,” he replied.
"I have chosen to end my own RICO case with an Alford plea and end my personal ordeal by publicly acknowledging my association with YSL,” Gunna said in his statement upon release from Fulton County Jail on Wednesday. “An Alford plea in my case is the entry of a guilty plea to the one charge against me, which is in my best interest, while at the same time maintaining my innocence toward the same charge. I love and cherish my association with YSL music, and always will. I look at this as an opportunity to give back to my community and educate young men and women that ‘gangs’ and violence only lead to destruction.”
He said that while he has agreed to be “truthful” with authorities, he made it clear that he has not made any statements. “I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify to be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” he added.
Gunna entered into a plea deal in which he received a time-served, suspended sentence. The Georgia native was behind bars since May, when he and other YSL associates were named in a sweeping RICO indictment. His suspended sentence is subject to various conditions, including 500 hours of community service.
Young Thug has yet to make a similar deal, and currently remains behind bars.
