Clipse's Malice On AI in Music: "Just What The World Needs, More Fakeness!”

During a Reddit AMA, Pusha T and Malice had differing takes on using AI in music.

In a Reddit AMA, Clipse’s Malice was asked about his thoughts on the implications of artificial intelligence technology being used in the music industry.

“How do you both feel about the rise of AI in music?” asked one fan, to which Malice responded, “Just what the world needs, more fakeness!”

In a follow-up, Pusha T explained that he has used the technology before, however.

“To be honest, I’ve only used AI in music to hear how features could potentially sound,” he wrote. “Usually singing hooks/features.”

Elsewhere in the AMA, the duo was asked how they felt about performing at the Vatican, whether they think they’ve got a shot at winning any Grammys with their latest album, and if they recorded any music together during their hiatus.

“It was definitely surreal,” said Malice of performing at the Vatican earlier this year. “I think the highpoint for us both was that we got to honor our parents in such a way, on a global platform. The architecture, the artwork, the access—it was crazy.”

Clipse made history in September by becoming the first rappers to perform at the Vatican during the Grace for the World concert.

As for whether they hit the studio during their hiatus between 2010 and 2023, Pusha T revealed that they didn’t work on material during that time.

“There is no treasure trove of heat,” said Pusha T. “Everything we do, we use. We don’t make extra records. There’s never been a stockpiled batch of throwaways. Everything is always useful.”

When asked if they think they could win Grammys for Let God Sort Em Out, Malice replied, “Is the back of my hand Black?????”
