On the debut episode of Elliott Wilson's new podcast, Elliott Wilson Experience, "Fisherrr" rapper and producer Cash Cobain addressed the criticism some had of J. Cole's verse on "Grippy."
On the inaugural episode of the Elliott Wilson Experience, Cash Cobain touched on everything from his huge rise in popularity and leading the wave of sexy drill, to how his family and New York hip-hop have influenced him. While he's been making so many smart moves this year, his collaboration with J. Cole, "Grippy," wasn't met with a unanimously positive reaction.
"No one understands from the outside looking in what we really go through," Cash Cobain told Wilson at around the 2:35 mark. "You think that n***a really care about a verse that y'all talkin' about? He probably dealing with some other shit right now, but he probably got some fire shit coming for y'all. ... If you were to listen to 'Dunk Contest,' you would really know it's a 'Dunk Contest' remix. What you wanted him to bar you up all day? Come on, bro."
Wilson, an esteemed hip-hop journalist who previously served as the editor-in-chief of XXL and hosts the Rap Radar Podcast with Brian 'B.Dot' Miller, is launching his new podcast on all platforms this week.
