During a recent stream with fans on Instagram Live, Cardi B blasted anyone struggling to cover bills who voted for Donald Trump, thinking he would make their economic situation improve.
At around the 3:50 mark of the stream, which can be seen above, Cardi said that she was “pissed off” with reactions to the Trump administration’s decision to cut funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which provides those struggling to afford food with food stamps.
Cardi clarified that she didn't plan on voting last year, because the Democrats were “funding wars,” but she spoke to Kamala Harris directly and changed her mind because she then felt better about her political agenda. While she didn’t agree with everything the Democrats promised, Cardi said she realized that the alternative with the Republicans was far worse.
“Now look, right… Donald Trump was never for y’all poor motherfuckers,” she said. “Donald Trump was never for the poor people. For the white poors, for the Black poors, for the Spanish poors, for the Asians, for the Indians… He don’t give a fuck about none of y’all motherfuckers. When I talk about poor, I’m not only talking about poor people that’s under [the] poverty [line]. To him, even millionaires are poor! He don’t give give a fuck about the millionaires like me, neither!”
Cardi went on to explain that history has shown that dictators found “an excuse to blame people for a country’s downfall,” and used Hitler’s vilification of the Jewish community as an example. “Now, Donald Trump was blaming the immigrants for America’s downfall,” she continued. “Like, I do understand if a country wants to enforce more strict immigration laws. I understand that. However, he was using that as an excuse for the issues that we have in this country, in this economy. Now, how many fucking immigrants has he deported? He has deported so many people. So, now the immigrants are deported, who are we blaming for the fact that we are practically going into a recession? We don’t even have food stamps.”
Cardi then questioned Trump’s logic that all the immigrants were taking the benefits, since despite so many deportations, SNAP benefits are being taken away. “[Trump] don’t fucking like y’all,” she said. “You’re poor, he don’t like you. If you poor, he don’t fucking like you. He ain’t for you. … The economy is fucked up in all types of way. When was the last time y’all seen celebrities happy and shit? Everybody’s going through it, bitch. These companies they’re not giving money like they used to be.”
She added that one of the biggest indicators that the country is in recession is sex workers charging less, suggesting that she's heard some people who used to charge $10,000 are now charging as little as $2,500. "When have you seen a bitch pop out with a Birkin?" she asked. "Even the prostitutes going through it! ... 'Cause the fucking economy is bad!"
