Following a lengthy back-and-forth, the temporary co-administrators for the estate of DMX have been confirmed.

The late rapper’s estate will be managed by DMX’s ex-wife Tashera Simmons and his oldest sons from their marriage; Xavier Simmons, Sean Simmons, and Tacoma Simmons. The three sons previously petitioned to become administrators of his estate, as did DMX’s fiancée Desiree Lindstrom.

“They will now exclusively manage the affairs of their late father’s estate,” reads the statement confirming the handlers of the estate. “The estate has retained entertainment attorney Ron Sweeney of Ron Sweeney and Company to exclusively handle all entertainment related matters. Estate Attorney, Herb Nass is the attorney for the Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons estate and the sons as co-administrators.”

The battle for control of the late rapper’s estate has been messy because when he died, he didn’t leave behind a will. Lindstrom had her petition to be an administrator denied by a judge, while his daughters from separate relationships, Sasha Simmons and Jada Oden, had also petitioned to be administrators. It has been estimated that his estate could be worth under $1 million, with some estimates indicating it could be as low as $50,000. Last week, Georgia resident Raven Barmer-Simmons came forward claiming to be a child of the late rapper.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, died at age 50 on April 9 following a heart attack triggered by a drug overdose. His first posthumous album Exodus—named after his 5-year-old son with Lindstrom—was released May 28 via Def Jam Records. The LP featured guest appearances from the likes of Jay-Z, Nas, and Snoop Dogg.
