6lack Announces New Album 'Since I Have a Lover,' Shares Video for Title Track

6lack has a new album titled Since I Have a Lover arriving later this month, and ahead of its release he’s shared the music video for its title track.

The Andrew Donoho-directed video for the restrained track sees the Atlanta singer-songwriter and rapper gliding through his city, before he comes crashing back to the ground for a preview of another unheard song. The song is set to show up on 6lack’s third studio album, which arrives on March 24.

“‘Since I Have A Lover,’ the title track, is the highs of having a healthy love, compressed into song format,” 6lack said of the new track. “It’s a note to self, that I’m no longer who I was or where I was, and that there’s a bigger purpose starting to reveal itself in the things I create. We are simply pushing love, because it’s needed. The verses are short and serve as a moment of acknowledgment for how I feel, and the chorus is less of a lyric and more of a feeling. It’s an exhale, it’s relief, it’s trust, it’s happiness, it’s surreal.”

Since I Have a Lover is 6lack’s first studio album since he dropped East Atlanta Love Letter back in 2018. While he’s mostly kept out of the spotlight, he did make a number of guest appearances over the past few years including on Lil Tjay’s “Calling My Phone” and more recently Jessie Reyez’s “Forever,” which appeared on her second studio album Yessie.
