50 Cent, who has never shied away from controversy, responded to criticism of a recent 9/11 tribute post he shared that also promoted his cognac brand.

“This day will forever be remembered, to those who lost loved ones my condolences,” Fif wrote on the 20th anniversary of the attack, alongside a photo of the twin towers. He also included the hashtags “#bransoncognac” and “#lecheminduroi,” in reference to his liquor brands. Fif is known for adding these hashtags to almost all of his posts across Twitter and Instagram, regardless of the context.

Over a week later, Fif took to, you guessed it, Instagram, to respond to being “under fire” for the post. “I’m just seeing this guys am I still under fire, or did things blow over,” he wrote alongside a screenshot of a HipHop DX article regarding his controversial post.

Just a few weeks ago, 50 landed in hot water over a similar post following the death of The Wire and Lovecraft Country actor Michael K. Williams. “Damn if you didn’t see Raising Kanan check it out that fentanyl is no joke, killing the clientele,” he wrote with a screenshot of a New York Post article reporting Williams death by suspected overdose. “R.I.P. Michael K. Williams #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi #bottlerover.”

In his response to the backlash, he simply wrote, “Hey if you didn’t get a chance to see Raising Kanan check it out. Fentanyl is a hell of a drug. #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi.”
