Amid the government shutdown, which has caused a spike in airport issues, including flight cancellations and lengthy delays, 50 Cent has expressed frustration.
In a post on Instagram on Sunday (Nov. 9), 50 Cent shared a video showing just how bad the flight cancellations have been over the weekend.
“Man the airport is fvcked up, forget about traveling right now!” he wrote alongside the clip. “Unless you driving all roads lead to Shreveport.”
The clip ended with 50 Cent walking to a private jet, lamenting how “crazy” things have gotten amid the government shutdown.
50 later shared another video where he said that it wasn’t just commercial air travel that’s been impacted, as many private jets weren’t being cleared for takeoff, either.
“It’s a wrap, man,” said 50 Cent, who has previously shown support for Donald Trump. “Can’t even take off the jets no more. They just said that they not even letting the jets go.”
As reported by the Associated Press, U.S. airlines canceled as many as 1,500 flights on Saturday (Nov. 8), and more than 2,900 on Sunday. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an order to airlines to reduce traffic because many air traffic controllers have stopped showing up to work because they’re not getting paid amid the government shutdown. Additionally, 1,600 flights have been canceled for Monday (Nov. 10), and almost 1,000 have been canceled for Tuesday (Nov. 11).
According to an NBC News poll conducted last month, the majority of Americans have blamed Donald Trump and the Republican Party for the federal shutdown. Lawmakers have failed to agree on terms to end the shutdown, which started on October 1. It is now the longest shutdown in U.S. history.
Lawmakers have reached a stalemate on 14 separate funding issues, including many welfare programs and healthcare. Among the issues, Democrats wanted to implement a one-year extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies, which Republicans rejected. The shutdown has resulted in hundreds of federal employees going without pay for over a month.
