21 Savage's Co-Manager Shares Update on Rapper's Detainment

On Sunday, ICE arrested 21 Savage in Atlanta.

On Sunday, Feb. 3, ICE arrested 21 Savage in Atlanta. The rapper has been taken into ICE custody under allegations that he's a United Kingdom national. ICE claims his visa expired in July 2006 when he was just 14, and that he has since been "unlawfully present" in the United States. 21's lawyer has since accused ICE of working to "intimidate" the artist into "giving up his right to fight to remain in the United States."

Savage's co-manager has just shared an update on the situation, explaining that he's in good spirits but is currently in lockdown. "Just got off phone wit Savage," he tweeted. "He is in lockdown for 23hrs of the day no TV or any communication besides our 10 min phone calls... Everything I've told him that has been happening made him happy & makes this time fly by thank y'all for the support."

His co-managers have both reiterated that they've known 21 Savage since third grade, which contends with some of ICE's claims regarding when he moved to the States. He has not be charged with any crimes, and his lawyer Charles H. Kuck has called ICE's treatment of him "a cvil law violation." He continued, "Mr. Abraham-Joseph has U.S. citizen children that he supports and is eligible for relief from deportation. We and he will fight for his release, for his family, and his right to remain in our country."

It's still currently unknown if 21 will be deported or not, but lawyers have stated that there's hope for him. "As a top entertainer, and an internationally recognized talent, 21 Savage would be eligible to apply for permanent residence in the United States, also known as a green card," attorney Deron Smallcomb explained to Complex.
