The classic song “Moon River” just got a new spin.
In a new clip called “About Love,” shared Monday by Tiffany & Co., Beyoncé sings the song to Jay-Z piano-side, while channeling Breakfast at Tiffany’s in the process. The minute-and-a-half-long clip, directed by Black Is King helmer Emmanuel Adjei, and shot at iconic the Orum Residence in Los Angeles, shows Bey leaving a private jet as Jay sits at a typewriter and by a screen, watching footage of his wife.
They eventually reunite, as Beyoncé’s cover of the 1961 Audrey Hepburn and Hov’s Super-8 filming skills both set the tone for the footage throughout. Bey rocks the Tiffany Diamond again with a black gown and gloves as she seemingly pays homage to Hepburn, while Jay wears Jean Schlumberger’s Bird on a Rock brooch as cufflinks.
“'About Love’ tells a love story of longing, reunion and a bond that transcends space and time,” the video’s Instagram caption reads. The campaign will continue this year with films from Dikayl Rimmasch and second unit director Derek Milton.
Previously, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were captured in other Tiffany photos for the campaign, with Bey pictured wearing the Tiffany Diamond and Jay sitting in a seat in front of a never-before-seen Basquiat piece, the 1982-dated “Equals Pi” painting. Still, several close friends and collaborators of the late Jean-Michel Basquiat have disowned the ad, with some saying that the “commercialization and commodification of Jean” was not what he was about.
Last week, the Shawn Carter Foundation, the BeyGOOD organization, and Tiffany & Co. introduced the Love Scholarship—pledging $2 million in scholarships to arts and creative students at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, Norfolk State University, Bennett College, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and Central State University.
