Britney Spears Announces Pregnancy: 'I Am Having a Baby'

Britney Spears announced she’s pregnant with her third child on Monday. The pop superstar took to Instagram to share the story about how she learned of her pregnancy during a recent trip to Maui with fiancé Sam Asghari.

“I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️…I thought ‘Geez… what happened to my stomach???’ My husband said ‘No you’re food pregnant silly 🤪 !!!’ So I got a pregnancy test…and uhhhhh well…I am having a baby 👶🏼,” Spears wrote.

Spears continued, sharing that four days later, she “got a little more food pregnant.” She even suspected that there could be two babies “in there,” which she wrote might make her “lose it.”

“I obviously won’t be going out as much due to the paps getting their money 💴 shot of me 📸 like they unfortunately already have,” Britney wrote. “It’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression…I have to say it is absolutely horrible 😔…women didn’t talk about it back then…some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her…but now women talk about it everyday…thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret 🤫 😬😬😬…This time I will be doing yoga 🧘‍♀️ every day!!! Spreading lots of joy and love 💕!!!”

Joy and love have seemingly been plentiful for Spears this past year. Since being let go from her 13-year conservatorship, she and Asghari have been planning a life for themselves—including a September engagement. The couple—who met on set of Spears’ “Slumber Party” music video in 2016—have been teasing the idea of having children together, including a recent Instagram post from Brit where she wrote she was “planning on having babies in Polynesia.” Since then, mentions of Asghari being Spears’ “husband” on Instagram have contributed to speculation that they already got married in private.

“I want to take my career to the next step when it comes to acting,” Asghari said in a 2021 interview with Forbes. “I want to take my relationship to the next step, as well. I don’t mind becoming a father. I want to be a young dad.”
