Following his Latin Grammy win in 2025 for Best Rap/Hip Hop Song with the song “Fresh,” Argentine rapper Trueno has just dropped his fourth studio album, TURR4ZO.
The album is a 14-song journey across genres, with one goal: Trueno returning to his Argentine roots through a variety of samples from his homeland. Sort-of title track “Turrazo” samples “Tírate un Paso,” a song by cumbia group Los Wachiturros, who played a major role in the genre’s resurgence in the modern era, meshing it with a quirky West Coast groove. “1000 Horas” samples “Mil Horas” by Argentine pop band Los Abuelos de la Nada, making for a catchy bop that Trueno flows over with ease alongside Andrés Calamaro.
Beyond the homages, Trueno also pairs up with established local talent from Argentina such as Maria Becerra on the electro-pop cut “90s” and rap veteran Neo Pistea on the trap banger “Grillz.”
When Trueno is behind the mic solo, he delivers a variety of ear-catching songs. “Delivery Freestyle” sees him spit bars for two minutes over another Argentine sample: “Cuando Me Abandone El Alma” by the folk duo Cuti y Roberto Carabajal. He expands beyond rap with Reggaeton-leaning rhythms on infectious tracks like “Zombi” and “Bailando Sola.” He also continues his introspective song series with its fourth installment, “Rain IV.”
Trueno just announced via Instagram that he will be the musical guest next Wednesday (May 6) for his debut performance on The Tonight Show.
