Amid his ongoing RICO trial, Atlanta rapper Cash Out and his mother have been accused of attempting to intimidate a witness.

According to WSB-TV, the rapper—born John Michael Gibson—allegedly tried to silence a witness in his case with help from his mother, Linda Smith, also known as “Mama Ca$h.” Smith is a co-defendant in the case.

The unnamed woman was reportedly pressured not to cooperate with authorities. She had been arrested alongside Gibson during a 2021 prostitution sting.

On Monday, June 30, jurors were shown a 2021 interrogation video of Smith, recorded after she was taken into custody at a physical therapy clinic. In the footage, Smith denies any wrongdoing, claiming she was at the facility to look for a friend who had missed a probation appointment.

Prosecutors also played a series of jail phone calls in which Cash Out can allegedly be heard instructing Smith to locate the woman. “I mean, y’all acting like I done kidnapped her,” Smith reportedly said during the questioning.

Cash Out faces multiple charges, including sex trafficking and luring women into prostitution. Since the case has started, jurors have heard testimony from several women who claimed the rapper coerced them into performing sex acts for money, which they were allegedly forced to turn over to him.

Earlier this month, a forensic interviewer specializing in sex trafficking cases testified in Fulton County court, explaining how victim interviews are conducted and how trafficking impacts survivors differently based on age, according to WSB-TV Atlanta.
