YoungBoy Never Broke Again was released from jail on August 15, after serving 90 days for probation violations.
Following a shooting in Miami Beach earlier this year that left a bystander dead and his girlfriend with a shoulder wound, calls to detain the rapper grew louder. The Baton Rouge rapper was sent to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison after prosecutors lobbied to have him locked away, following multiple alleged violations. The 19-year-old born Kentrell Gaulden was on probation from a 2016 shooting incident and the terms of that probation required him to stay off of social media which he was found to have violated.
WAFB reports that YoungBoy will be on house arrest for the next 14 months and he's been ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor. They add that no exemptions will be made for performances.
YoungBoy's lawyer shared that the rapper was remorseful over the man who was caught in what is believed to be an assassination attempt on YoungBoy's life. The artist and his record label reportedly tried to contact the family to pay for his funeral expenses.
"I wish they would have gotten me, not him," he said, via his lawyer.
In the last few months, another member of YoungBoy's crew has been arrested in relation to a drive-by shooting that Gaulden already faced charges for. Gaulden's associate Turlondrick Norman was charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
