The final night of Governors Ball was evacuated due to the threat of severe weather. The New York City fest sent out the word on Twitter at 9:35 p.m. ET. The order came before headlining sets that were meant to close out the festival by The Strokes and SZA.

The decision to shut it down came after a day plagued with rain delays and cancelled sets. The fest was delayed for six hours earlier in the day due to forecasted storms. It didn't rain so waiting fans were left to fume until the fest opened at 6:30 p.m..

“It’s f—ed up man,” attendee Audrey Ouimet told the New York Post. “It didn’t even rain and what the f–k, it’s supposed to be rain or shine. Are you kidding me?”

The call came down after early acts were cancelled completely. Charli XCX, Soccer Mommy and SOB X RBE had their sets called off.

Governors Ball organizers said that they are working on getting refunds for Day 3 attendees, many of whom had to leave the festival on foot and walk across the Randalls Island bridge.

A statement regarding the cancellations was also shared. Read it below.
