Young Miko Defends Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Set: ‘There’s a Space for Absolutely Everybody’

Miko recently connected with English-speaking audiences while opening for Billie Eilish.

Young Miko is standing by Bad Bunny as he prepares to perform at the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

In a new interview with Complex’s Dimas Sanfiorenzo, the 28-year-old rapper stood firmly in defense of Bad Bunny and dismissed criticism that his all-Spanish performance might alienate English-speaking viewers.

“There's a language barrier, so maybe there are people that are, I don't know, feeling a certain type of way about it, but we all share the same world," she said near the 23-minute mark in the video linked above. "There's different colors and languages and sizes and orientations and there's a space for absolutely everybody."

For Miko, who is also Puerto Rican, the significance of Bad Bunny's performance goes beyond language.

"I think it's such a special time for him to be on such a big stage and for him to put once again the flag of Puerto Rico in such a high place and in such a big spotlight. I think that's what he does best. So I'm honestly just so excited to see what he's gonna do,” she added.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Miko reflected on her own experiences performing for predominantly English-speaking audiences after she was invited to open up for Billie Eilish on select U.S. dates of her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour, including dates in Raleigh, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and New York City.

"I was pretty aware that it was mostly an English-speaking crowd," she said, adding that the challenge only motivated her. "It just comes to show that there is no language barrier in music, and in vibes, you know? Vibes don't lie."

Miko recalled how fans loaded Puerto Rican flags on their phones to wave at her and danced along to her music, even if they didn't understand her lyrics.

"I felt really welcomed. I felt pretty special," she said. "It was such a special space that she opened up for a Latin queer artist, so I feel really grateful for that as well."

When asked whether she ever feels anxious about performing in Spanish for global audiences, such as her Coachella set in 2024, Miko said the feeling is more excitement than fear.

"It's like when you're sitting on the bench you're like, 'Coach, put me in already. I wanna play,'" she joked. "I'm clearly having fun up there and if you wanna have fun with me you're more than welcome to do so."

Young Miko’s new album Do Not Disturb is available now.
