Young M.A left Shannon Sharpe confused after she said she preferred dating straight women but insisted she was "not flipping them" into becoming lesbians.

The 34-year-old rapper recently made an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast ahead of the release of her new album KWEEN.

Near the one-hour mark of the video linked here, M.A and Sharpe had a slightly confusing conversation about dating, attraction, and how to interpret chemistry between women.

When Sharpe asked the “OOOUUU” rapper what her favorite part of a woman was, she answered, “[Their] eyes because you see they soul. Of course, you got to still be a beautiful woman that got yourself together—but the eyes is what what pulls me in first."

She continued, “You know why I say it's the eyes? Cuz that's how I would know if a girl is attracted to me, because most women l've dated was straight."

That statement immediately led Sharpe to ask, “You flipped them?”

M.A rejected that framing, saying, “I wouldn't say flip. See, a lot of people get that misconstrued. Women that I end up dating don't mean they [are] just gay—no. They still like men, they just attracted to me and that's it. After me they move back on to men, that's it."

Sharpe then tried to clarify what she meant by asking, "So it's not a situation they need to be gay or they need to be straight, or X Y and Z?"

"Nah. I prefer straight," M.A answered, catching Sharpe off guard.

Sharpe still questioned the distinction, adding, "Hold on, if they straight—they've never been with a woman," Sharpe asked.

“I'm a different type of person though,” M.A explained. “I'm not like [the] 'gay rapper-ish' type, you know? I'm just me that loves women."

“Flipping,” in this context is the insinuation that a person is able to “turn” a person gay. As explained by Planned Parenthood, a person’s sexual orientation is not a choice and research shows that it's likely caused partly by biological factors that start before birth.

Young M.A’s new album KWEEN arrives on Friday, May 29.
