Summer Walker didn’t let her illness sideline a performance overseas.
The R&B singer, 27, is currently headlining the Souled Out festival in Australia and New Zealand. However, a source connected to Summer told TMZ that she came down with bronchitis a few days prior to her performance in Auckland, New Zealand.
On Thursday, Summer shared a video of herself on the Souled Out stage announcing that she was sick, saying, “I just wanted to say your girl got bronkiki, I got bronchitis. But we still gon’ do it tonight, we still gotta have fun, right?”
According to Cleveland Clinic, bronchitis is described as the condition when the airways to your lungs become inflamed and filled with mucus. Although bronchitis itself isn’t contagious, the viruses and bacteria that cause it can be.
The source also told TMZ that Summer “doesn’t believe in modern medicine” and has been using a blend of herbs and teas to soothe her throat, in addition to a strict vocal rest with minimal speaking until the shows start.
Summer’s past comments about public health-related issues are seemingly in line with how she’s handling her bronchitis diagnosis.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Still Over It singer described it as a “whole plandemic agenda” and asked vaccinated people to “stay away from her.”
