Skilla Baby says he’s thankful for the prayers and concerns after he survived a shooting in Detroit last month—and expressed his feelings with a freestyle rap.
In a video shared to his Instagram on Wednesday (June 18), the rapper (born Trevon Gardner) shared a message about his gratitude.
“Thank you all for your prayers and your concerns,” Skilla said. “All praise to the Most High, my Lord and Savior for covering me while I was in a bad situation. I know he don't make mistakes, so I would never ask him why. Never question my Lord and Savior.”
“I'm a soldier. I don't do no bullshit. I keep it solid, no soft shit,” he added.
Skilla was shot multiple times in a targeted attack in Redford Township, Michigan, near 8 Mile and Beech Daly. Authorities said an unknown suspect fired about 25 rounds at his SUV, causing him to crash into a building.
He was hospitalized with gunshot wounds to his hand, head, back, and thigh.
In spite of his circumstances, Skilla reflected on the situation in the Instagram video with a short rap song inspired by the ordeal.
“I don't fear n****s, I fear God / That n***a shot my truck up 20 times, I never cried,” he raps in the clip.
“N***a, I ain't do shit, but hurt my hand and start a war / I got a good feeling, It's gonna be a long summer,” he added.
