Selena Gomez says Ice Cube was her childhood crush.
The singer made the revelation while she and Karol G named their GOAT rappers during their newly-released episode of Complex’s GOAT Talk.
“One of mine was Eminem only because I grew up listening to my dad, who was a DJ. He would remix all kinds of songs, and every time it was an Eminem song I would just get so excited,” said Gomez at the 12-minute mark in the video linked above.
On the other hand, Karol G also named Eminem plus “Tusa” collaborator Nicki Minaj as her GOAT picks.
“But can I tell you my first one that I had a crush on? Ice Cube,” said Gomez, 32, about the 56-year-old NWA rapper.
“I had the biggest crush on him,” Gomez continued. “I was, like, five. It’s so weird but I just thought he would protect me … I’m only saying it simply based on my childhood.”
Gomez is engaged to producer and songwriter Benny Blanco, 37, who teamed up for their collaborative album I Said I Love You First earlier this year.
Earlier in the episode, Karol asked Gomez to pick the “GOAT dish you would want your significant other to cook for you.”
“You like cooking, right?” asked the Tropicoqueta singer.
“That’s all Benny,” said Gomez, who once hosted the cooking show, Selena + Chef. “It’s very stressful for me … So let’s leave the guys to do that.”
Gomez said she would love a pot pie, while Karol, who is dating former GOAT Talk guest Feid, says she would want a “great, special amazing breakfast.”
“French toast, eggs, bacon, roasted potatoes,” Karol said. “I’m asking [for] too much but … that would be, like, with little flowers and a cute presentation.”
