Rauw Alejandro says he recently experienced an anxiety attack for the first time mid-performance.

In a new interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, the Puerto Rican star explained he experienced an anxiety attack during one of the U.S. stops of his Cosa Nuestra World Tour earlier this year.

“I was able to experience an anxiety attack meanwhile I was performing,” said the 32-year-old near the 21-minute mark in the video linked below. “And it happened to me [for the] first time. I’ve never said this before.”

Alejandro attributed the incident to a combination of poor sleep, “back-to-back” concerts, and drinking straight coffee before hitting the stage.

“It was like a whole shutdown to the body,” he explained. “Literally, I was like dancing and singing. Bro, and I saw myself like—It was, like, … I saw me performing.”

“You separated,” Lowe responded.

“Separated,” Alejandro agreed. “It was crazy.”

Despite the overwhelming moment, he credited his inner strength—what he called a “warrior spirit,” for helping him push through.

“I was able to manage and recover and get back to business but, like, you learn … that you're not like a superhuman or a robot, and you have to respect your sleeping [schedule],” he said, explaining that he made changes to his lifestyle, particularly prioritizing eight hours of sleep if he’s not working.

He also acknowledged the toll of nonstop work over the past decade, admitting that with age, his body’s limits have become clear.

“Nowadays, you know, I work differently,” he said. “You start learning how your body works. Also, I’m still young, you know? I'm 32, but t's not the same when I was like 23 or 24, you know? Your body changes.”

Rauw Alejandro’s prequel album Cosa Nuestra: Capitulo 0, featuring guest verses from Saso, Jey One, Wisin, Ñengo Flow, De La Rose, and Ayra Starr, is out on Sept. 26.

ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
