Olivia Rodrigo is gearing up for a new era with the announcement of her third studio album.
On Thursday (April 2), the singer announced her new album You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love and shared its cover art to her social media.
“my third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th,” she wrote. “I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it. available for preorder now! [pink heart emoji]”
The album cover sees the 23-year-old singer swinging upside down on a swing set in mid-air against a clear blue sky while wearing a light pink dress with a white collar. Rodrigo’s mouth is open, and her eyes are closed, suggesting either a moment of exhilaration or chaos.
You Seem Pretty Sad … marks her first album since 2023’s Guts, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 thanks to its 302,000 album equivalent units. A deluxe re-release, titled Guts (Spilled), arrived the following year.
Further details about the album, such as its lead single, a tour, and other promotional efforts have yet to be announced.
In a recent interview with Vogue, the singer teased that the upcoming album might take on a different direction compared to her past albums.
“It’s very varied,” Rodrigo said in the video interview linked here. “I really wanted to figure out a way to kind of write about joy in this album. I feel like my last two albums are very, rightfully so, kind of angsty and heartbroken. Just as a creative endeavor and also 'cause I was experiencing a lot of joy in my life, I wanted to figure out how to, like, inject that into the songs that I was making.
“I'm really proud of it and I hope everyone likes it,” she added.
You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love arrives on June 12.
