Nicole Scherzinger recently shared a hilarious memory of Prince hiding behind a bush to get her attention.
During her appearance on the Tuesday (July 15) episode of Hot Ones, the Tony-winning Broadway star recalled the incident involving the man she named “my mentor, my friend, and my brother."
“He's got a show in Vegas, and I'm bringing my girlfriends, OK?" Scherzinger said near the 20-minute mark in the video linked above. "And we're super excited to see the show and to see him perform and support him."
The former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman recalled lounging by the pool before his concert that night and enjoying the sunshine when all of a sudden she heard, “Psst, psst.”
“We see this bush kind of moving … and I’ll be damned, Prince was hiding behind the bush trying to get my attention. I don’t know why,” she said, describing the pop icon crouched down in full glam, shoulder pads, and heels at noon.
“I wouldn’t be here, Sean, without him," Sherzinger said. "He actually came to see me in Cats [in London’s West End] and he was like, ‘You are an analog singer, not a digital singer. Your voice is too big and you need to do music that’s big enough for your voice. And this is your stage, Nicole.’ So, here we are.”
On Sunday, Scherzinger will take her final bow as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard on Broadway, which earned her a Tony Award for Best Actress in June.
