Megan Thee Stallion: Dream Con 'Deeply Sorry' for Tory Lanez Social Media Support

Fans noticed the event's social media team were liking posts supporting Lanez just hours after announcing Megan would headline the anime convention.

Organizers of a Texas-based anime convention have apologized to Megan Thee Stallion after interacting with social media comments in support of Tory Lanez.

Dream Con 2025, a Black-owned anime convention heading to Houston later this month, issued a public apology after fans discovered its Instagram account had engaged with comments supporting Lanez — just hours after naming the "Hot Girl Summer" rapper a headlining guest.

"We love and support Megan Thee Stallion. We're deeply sorry for the recent activity on our social media platforms that involved liking and engaging with negative comments directed at her," Dream Con said in a statement shared to X on Thursday (May 22).

"We recognize that our actions contributed to a negative online environment, and we take full responsibility as we work toward fostering a more positive and respectful space. It does not reflect Dream Con's views, values nor support for Megan and we're committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for our entire community."

The statement also called her a "powerhouse in music and culture" and "a symbol of resilience and empowerment for so many around the world."

The three-time Grammy winner and self-proclaimed anime superfan was announced as a headliner for the event on Wednesday (May 21).

Fans then noticed the official Dream Con Instagram account was liking dozens of comments in support of Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence after being found guilty of shooting Megan in 2020.

This isn’t the only recent social media blunder related to Megan and Lanez.

GloRilla was recently criticized after sharing a since-deleted Instagram Story post featuring Tory Lanez’s song “Y.D.L.R.”

Despite the content of the post being unrelated to Lanez, fans quickly got up in arms considering Glo had previously collaborated with Meg and served as a supporting act to her "Hot Girl Summer" tour last year.

"Ion internet shit and I don't do mess!" she wrote on X in response to the backlash. "It was an innocent repost yall bsn."

These incidents come shortly after new unfounded claims based on a newly unearthed testimony from a former bodyguard who alleges Kelsey Harris, Megan’s former friend, was responsible for pulling the trigger, not Lanez.

Megan’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, shut down the claims, saying Lanez’s case "was properly adjudicated through the court system" before later sharing "overwhelming evidence" used to convict the Canadian entertainer.

Megan, who has repeatedly addressed public harassment tied to the case, recently asked online: "At what point are yall gonna stop making me have to re live being shot BY TORY !? At what point are Tory and yall FANS gonna stop lying ? Like how much is the check to keep harassing me? Why is this happening EVERY DAY?"
