Meek Mill shared an interesting detail about his father’s funeral.

The rapper, who lost his father, Robert Parker, in 1992 due to gun violence in South Philadelphia, shared an anecdote about his services ahead of Easter on his X account.

“I seen my dad so fresh to death a 4 years old I thought it was Easter ..... he smelled like embalming fluid, gave him a Kiss his shit start leaking.....🥹😅😵‍💫👹,” wrote the rapper on Saturday (April 19).

In the nearly 24 hours since posting those details, Meek has not provided any context or additional information on what led him to share it.

The lasting impact of Meek’s father’s absence was one of the biggest takeaways of his 2019 Amazon docuseries, Free Meek.

Parker robbed drug dealers to support his family under the rationale that they couldn’t snitch, a choice that left Meek feeling conflicted later on in life.

“I don’t believe in that. Nobody should take food out of nobody else’s mouth because they got kids to feed, too,” Meek said. “I don’t knock him for doing it, though, because that’s how I was fed, that’s how I ate good at night.”

Memories of his father, such as learning how to ride a bike or box, have been fading, although one moment still haunts him.

“The memories are so old, you don’t know if it’s a dream or a memory at this point,” he said on the docuseries. “The main thing I remember is at his funeral, my aunt told me, ‘Tell your dad goodbye, you’re never gonna see him again.’ That stuck with me all the way up to today. Life still goes on. Nothing stops when somebody dies. Things keep going.”
