Max B’s Wife Says Ex-Boyfriend Introduced Her to His Music Before They Met

The rapper's wife explained the fateful way she learned about her future husband.

Max B's wife says she first discovered his music through an ex-boyfriend.

On Wednesday’s episode of the Talk With Flee podcast, Cam'ron and Mase sat down with Max B after his release from prison and also spoke with his wife, identified only as Ms. Wingate.

At the 36:25 mark of the episode, Wingate explained how she first connected with Max while he was incarcerated—and how her introduction to his music came long before she ever knew him personally.

"I met him probably like 10 years ago. I wrote him and it was just kind of like, after reading his case... I was compelled to write him. I wanted to give him some type of faith or hope," she said. That first message led to years of handwritten letters back and forth, eventually culminating in their marriage this past February.

Wingate admitted that their relationship wasn't easy: "People that are on the outside have problems already that are not in jail. Imagine the problems: somebody incarcerated and you can't really work through them like how a normal person would, you know? Like, he can't call me when he wants to every time. Sometimes he would be in the hole or something like that and I can't communicate with him.”

Despite those challenges, she said she stayed because she felt spiritually certain he would eventually come home. "When I met him, he still had his 75 years. I already knew he was coming home... I felt it in my spirit."

Cam’ron then asked if she was familiar with Max’s music before she ever reached out. Wingate laughed before revealing the unexpected connection.

"I had an ex-boyfriend and he would listen to his music, so shout out to him," she said as Cam’ron and Mase cracked up.

She kept the laughter going when she added that Max even invited that same ex to their wedding—an offer he politely declined. "He said, 'I'll sit that one out, but congratulations.'"

When asked what life has been like now that Max has been home for less than a week, Wingate said, "It feels like he's been home for a month... he's just been working."

Max B was originally sentenced to 75 years before later pleading guilty to aggravated manslaughter, reducing his sentence to 20 years.
