Lana Del Rey appeared to call out an LGBTQ+ nightclub for advertising an event pitting her against rival Ethel Cain.
Earlier this week, the LORE nightclub in Atlanta shared an Instagram post advertising their “Ethel vs Lana Drag Brunch.” The event is described as “ATL’s most brooding drag performers take on the hits and deep cuts from your favorite 2 all-American sad girls!”
In a seemingly deleted comment, the Born to Die singer appeared to write, “Sadly, none of this is funny. She’s abusive and that’s all there is to it.”
The authenticity of the comment appeared to be confirmed by multiple commenters and the nightclub itself.
On Sunday (March 22), LORE shared a screenshot of an alleged DM from Del Rey reading, "Fuck you."
The nightclub captioned the post, writing, “Lana, you will always be a part of our LORE. [heart hands emoji] See you next Sunday! #blocked."
As explained by Teen Vogue, their feud began after Del Rey posted a snippet of an unreleased track called “Track 13,” with the lyrics, “Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post / Think it's cute reenacting my Chicago pose.”
Fans believed the line referred to alleged tensions tied to posts comparing their similar photos with Jack Donoghue of the band Salem.
Cain later appeared to respond via Instagram, writing, “Update: Lana Del Rey has blocked Ethel Cain on Instagram.”
Nicki Minaj later amplified attention to the song online by praising Del Rey’s song and vowing to check out her entire discography.
