Kodak Black’s attorney says the video of the rapper drinking lean was actually just a prank.

A concerning video making the rounds on social media showed the rapper behind the wheel drinking from a bottle that looks like it might contain promethazine—a prescription cough syrup often used to make lean, though it’s unclear if that’s what it actually was.

“Sippin’ that drank raw,” he said at one point in the clip.

Kodak’s attorney Bradford Cohen tells TMZ that the rapper was just trolling on social media by replacing the cough syrup with juice.

The Florida rapper has previously struggled with substance abuse. His legal troubles include a 2015 arrest for marijuana possession and a 2022 charge for oxycodone trafficking. In 2023, he was suspected of cocaine possession, which later turned out to be prescription oxycodone.

Earlier this year, fans expressed concerns after a video of Kodak eating what appeared to be fried chicken while sitting on the street made the rounds online.

Months later, Kodak rapped that he’s a “young n***a with a meth habit” during an episode of On The Radar, further worrying fans about his well-being.

In August, it was revealed that the 28-year-old rapper is facing a $10.6 million lawsuit over a shooting that took place during a 2022 Super Bowl party.

Kodak was among several people injured in the shooting, along with bystanders Mark Schaefer and Adam Rahman, who argue that the rapper initiated the violent altercation in which they were shot.
