Lil Durk, King Von’s estate, and their record label OTF, along with associated companies, are being sued for their alleged involvement in FBG Duck’s murder in 2020.

The civil lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Cook County Circuit Court on behalf of Duck’s mother, LaSheena Weekly, and two injured bystanders, accuses the defendants of civil conspiracy, wrongful death, negligence, battery, assault, emotional distress, and other charges.

In the 92-count suit reviewed by Complex, Lil Durk and OTF (Only the Family) are accused of operating as a criminal enterprise, orchestrating a campaign of intimidation and placing a bounty on Duck’s life. It alleges that OTF’s leadership used their platform to eliminate rivals in a bid to control Chicago’s drill rap scene, known for its association with real-life gang activity.

The defendants also include several major record labels including Sony Music, Universal Music Group, and Empire Distribution, who are accused of promoting and profiting from violent behavior by signing artists with known gang affiliations.

It further claims that the City of Chicago and security firms failed to respond adequately during the incident, ultimately leading to Duck’s death.

Duck, born Carlton Weekly, was fatally shot on the afternoon of Aug. 4, 2020. When police and emergency services arrived on the scene, the rapper reportedly lay on the sidewalk for approximately 17 minutes without medical treatment or being transported to a hospital.

“Our laws do not allow a company to put out a dangerous defective product that can harm our community,” said Roosevelt Allen, Senior Trial Manager at the Dinizulu Law Firm in a statement shared with Complex. “These labels UMG/Interscope, Sony/Alamo Records, Empire Distribution put a dangerous product of Lil Durk, ‘King Von’ and OTF out to the public and the end result was the death and injuries of our clients. They are responsible for their product.”

“It has been a long and painful journey fighting for justice for my son, Carlton, also known as FBG Duck. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about him and the life that was taken from him,” Duck’s mother, Lasheena Weekly, said in her statement. “But today, we are one step closer to justice. It has been a long road, but there’s finally light at the end of the tunnel. My son deserved better, and so do his children.”
