Common is once again recalling the time Fat Joe saved his life.
In a new episode of Joe and Jada, Common said Fat Joe came to his rescue during his tense beef with Ice Cube and Mack 10.
Common remembered being on the West Coast filming a commercial when an associate from Chicago reignited tensions that were supposed to be resolved.
"I was out on the West Coast with my guy, one of my guys I knew through one of my close homies, but he was my guy and he just wasn't happy with the whole situation—the whole Ice Cube, Mac 10 beef that we had,” Common said near the five-minute mark in the video linked above.
Even though Common reassured his hometown friend that the beef was squashed, he still "started ruffling shit," which caused tensions to rise.
"It's not 'cause Fat Joe is tougher than anybody, I literally begged for your life," Joe said. "I literally got in the middle, and was like, 'He's my friend. He's my brother.'"
Joe's pleading not only worked in the moment, but the conflict was resolved going forward.
Common admitted he was unaware of the specifics regarding how Joe intervened, but the rapper and actor knew who was responsible for saving his life.
Common previously shared the story during his 2021 appearance on Hot 97, detailing how his friend was staring down and grilling Mack 10. The rapper and actor recalled an associate of Mack 10 leaving with the intent of returning to retaliate before Fat Joe told him, "Your man gotta go. He gotta leave. He can't stay," while also warning him that things were about to "get real."
"That brother kinda saved my life," he said. "Fat Joe saved my life."
