A Nashville fugitive accused of murdering rapper Chris King has been captured.

Adrian Cameron Jr., 20, was arrested in Los Angeles for two separate murders on Tuesday (May 27), according to FOX 17 Nashville.

Chris King (born Christopher Cheeks) was shot and killed during an attempted robbery outside a recording studio on Hayes Street in midtown Nashville in April, 2024.

King was standing in an alley with friends at 2:30 a.m. when a group of people approached them and tried to rob him. The rapper and another man were wounded following gunfire.

"The [surviving] 29-year-old victim reported the group was hanging out cordially for some time before the three suspects attempted to rob his group of friends," read a 2024 statement from the Nashville Police Department. "It was then that he heard gunfire and realized he was struck."

Both men were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where King later died.

Per the news station, Cameron Jr. had been out on bond for the 2021 murder of 50-year-old Josh Evans of Lebanon at the time of Cheeks’ death and had been wearing an ankle monitor, which he reportedly cut off shortly after the shooting.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, in collaboration with an FBI and LAPD Task Force, apprehended Cameron outside of a home in Los Angeles. He is awaiting extradition to Nashville.

Another man, 19-year-old Amir Caroll, was arrested for his involvement in the robbery-related murder in February.

Following Cheeks’ death, the entertainment communities shared their grief and tributes on social media.

"Love you bro. This one hurts. Please keep his family in your prayers," Justin Bieber posted to his Instagram Story at the time. "See you in paradise brother."

Other celebrities, including Trippie Redd, Machine Gun Kelly, Westside Gunn, and Keke Palmer, also mourned the loss and shared their condolences.
