Marquise Jackson took a jab at his father 50 Cent on Father’s Day that likened their estranged relationship to a mock betting game.
The 28-year-old shared a sarcastic post on Instagram on Sunday (June 15) that featured a fake betting slip that joked about the chances of Fif posting a photo with Marquise or acknowledging him on Father’s Day. Needless to say, the odds on the sheet heavily favored that he wouldn’t.
Jackson captioned the post, writing, “Oh it’s Father’s Day 😳. Happy Father’s Day to all the real ones! I’m watching my bet and it ain’t looking too good 🤦🏾♂️ I got the over… We all know this the day for photo ops. The Day ain’t over yet FINISH STRONG… GET ON YOUR JOB 💪🏾 😂”
The post follows an exhausting public dispute between Jackson and the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ rapper that has spanned over a decade.
Their relationship reportedly began to deteriorate after Fifty’s split from Jackson’s mother, Shaniqua Tompkins. A custody battle ensued and finally settled in October 2008.
“There's different channels I have to go through. He has lawyers appointed to him through the court. So I have to talk to his lawyer to get things situated for me to actually get him,” Fifty told MTV in 2008 during the custody proceedings, per People. “The relationship between my wallet and his mom has changed. When people have expensive habits, it's a hell of a transition for them when that money is not there anymore. She said all kind of things about me I never would expect.”
On the other hand, Jackson told Rap-Up in 2017 that his relationship with his famous dad “completely went south” between the ages of 10 and 11.
“He wasn’t really around enough. It kind of dwindled down as time went on and certain events happened,” Jackson told the magazine. “For me, I just started feeling differently about him because growing up, my dad was my superhero. He’s on television, he does this, he does this, he would take me to school. It was like having a father who’s Superman, more or less."
He continued, “But then, as I got older, you start realizing things or you start seeing certain patterns and it takes an effect on your relationship with people. That’s what happened with me and my father. He’s still alive but I can’t tell you our last conversation or the last time we even had a dialogue.”
In May 2020, Fifty publicly described his relationship with Jackson as “a sad situation,” telling XXL’s Van Lathan that he “had everything I didn’t have.” The tension between them escalated when Fifty later claimed he’d choose rapper 6ix9ine over his own son.
Two years later, Jackson infamously offered Fifty a payment of $6,700, or one month of child support, as an “olive branch” for a day of his father’s time.
Fifty responded by mocking the gesture in an Instagram video, saying Jackson was too old to still be talking about child support.
That month, Jackson posted a follow-up on Instagram showing he was blocked by his father, insisting he had no other way to reach him. Fifty dismissed his efforts in a Breakfast Club interview and suggested his son just “wants some attention.”
