A Nevada judge handed down prison time to Duane “Keffe D” Davis as he awaits trial for the murder of 2Pac.

On Tuesday (Sept. 2), Davis was sentenced by Clark County Court Judge Nadia Krall to 16 to 40 months in prison for a jail fight unrelated to the rapper’s 1996 murder, according to CBS affiliate KLAS.

The 62-year-old is already awaiting trial in February for the murder charge and has been held at the Clark County Detention Center since his arrest in Sept. 2023.

“I was attacked,” Davis said during the hearing. “It was wrong, I know not to fight in the jail. The guy attacked me.”

He also told the court, “My parents brought me up to protect myself, and that’s all I was doing, protecting myself, and this is totally wrong, man.”

A jury found him guilty in April of fighting with another inmate after reviewing a video that showed men grappling on the floor of a jail day room for about 30 seconds before being separated by officers.

Nevada law allowed for a sentence ranging from one to 20 years, with an additional year possible, but Judge Krall imposed a concurrent one-year jail sentence, meaning Davis will likely serve most of the punishment while still in detention awaiting his murder trial.

The sentencing had already been postponed twice. Davis’ trial for killing Shakur is set for February.
